Petite Snowflake

Hey there friends!!

I know... no one wants to hear the words SNOW... especially me.  But I found the cutest snowflake that my sister Megan had cut out using the Silhouette and I had to make a card with it.  Oh and because I bought some new Christmas sentiment stamps that I am determined to put to good use this year!

See... isn't that snowflake just so dainty and cute!!  And against the dark brown paper it just pops!  Once again, these papers were just scraps left over from other projects I have made and somehow they found their way together!  Love the blue/brown combo.  One Christmas card down - only a million to go. Haha.
Tonight I am going scrappin' at my friend's house. I started a Project Life album in the spring and I am loving the process!  I'll try to take a picture of what I am working on to share on here.

Long Overdue

Hello friends.

Returning to this blog has been long overdue.  Life gets a bit crazy sometimes!  Thankfully, I'm back and ready to go. I thought I would kick off the school year in a different way since I don't have to go to school!  By sharing some new creations and some thoughts or tidbits along the way.  So without further ado....

I made the card below with some scraps that were just scattered on my desk.  They caught my eye and then the little wheels in my head started turning.  I stamped the little elephants onto the white circle and then thought they needed a little pattern so I stamped them again on scraps of matching paper.  Then I paper pieced them.  I love how they turned out!  Too cute.  The white background was embossed with a swirly embossing folder.  And the congratulations was a random sticker I found in a mixed bag of goodies I bought at a scrapbook store garage sale.  Add a pink flower and a pink button and voila!  Simple and cute.

Bouy Oh Boy

Hello!

All right, so here we are. Another really cold, wintery day. Spring is coming soon, right?

Today was one of those days where I created something (at work) and then re-created it about three more times... haha frustrating and a bit challenging. But it made me think outside the box. And I like that. The card below was made from pure inspiration (the papers) and fell right into place. It is the more natural, dare I say, easier creations that remind me to keep trying when it comes to the more challenging ones. The results are so worth it.

Here is the second card I made for my cousin-in-law, Katie.

I just love the look of this sail boat - reminds me of a quilt my mom made years ago. Anyways, I combined a few coordinating patterned papers to create the backgrounds and the boat (which I cut free hand - surprisingly!). I added some velvety rickrack as water and to add a bit of texture. The brown button was just begging to be put on the card and fell right there... and I liked it, so there it stays. I popped up the centre panel with foam squares and added a bit of ink to the edges. The metal clip - that maybe isn't very clear in the image - says "love" and I thought it was the perfect final touch.

Hope you have a great week!

Welcome Little Ones

Hello!

Life is changing - in the best ways! Our family is expecting the arrival of two wee ones. My sister and brother-in-law are expecting a little girl to arrive the end of March and my cousin and his wife are expecting a little boy to arrive mid April.

This weekend was the kick off of the baby showers. My sisters co-workers gathered on Friday evening to celebrate with Megan. It was a planned surprise party and Megan was completely shocked! Kudos to my other sister, Michelle, for planning the whole thing.

I made the card below for Megan - and because she is my cohort in card making crime - I knew it had to be a special one!

Yellow and pink were inspiring me to make this fresh and girly card. And I just had to add the flowers and jeweled details. You can't help but feel a bit brighter with this combination.

Then on Sunday I went to a church family shower for my cousin's wife, Katie. It is always special to see the support and love. And Katie was simply glowing!

So one of the other ladies attending the shower, my friend Karin, asked me to make a card for her to give Katie. I made this "Oh Baby!" card with some patterned paper, a little elephant image, the stamped "Oh Baby!" sentiment and a cute button that came in a kit with the little elephant. Oh and I almost forgot the little bit of orange ribbon.

I am so excited for both of these mothers-to-be and know they will be great moms! What an amazing adventure they are about to begin!

I will be posting the other card I made once I can grab the picture of it.

Thanks for stopping by.
